Going green has a ripple effect on our economy, as is evident from the recent growth across many green industries, from raw materials development to retail to employment.
Green products
Studies indicate that the market for green products will exceed $1 trillion dollars in the U.S. by 2015.
Green jobs
Millions of U.S. workers across a wide range of occupations will benefit from the U.S. becoming a green nation.
Green jobs aren’t very different than many existing jobs. For example, constructing wind farms creates jobs for sheet metal workers, machinists and truck drivers, among many others. Increasing the energy efficiency of buildings through retrofitting relies, among others, on roofers, insulators, and building inspectors. What makes these entirely familiar occupations “green jobs” is that the people working in them are contributing their everyday labors toward building a green economy. Read more here.
Solar Industry Jobs
The solar industry alone needs electrical engineers, electricians, welders, industrial machinery mechanics, metal fabricators, electrical equipment assemblers, construction equipment operators, construction managers, installation helpers and laborers. Read more here.
Many solar manufacturers already exist right here in the U.S. and they are selling solar panels and storage tanks to U.S. businesses and international companies. Read more here.
Many solar industry jobs remain in the U.S., as the solar products themselves need to be installed here on new and existing buildings. Read more here.
