The Stimulus Bill Passes

Only time will tell whether the stimulus package which just passed Congress is too much, too little, focuses too much on special interests, or burdens our children with too much debt. But, regardless of your viewpoint or history’s judgment, our leaders continue to make the commitment to dramatically change our energy policies and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.
The $787 billion stimulus bill is making an unprecedented investment in the “green” economy. Funds are being allocated to a number of conservation efforts and to the further development and deployment of renewable energy solutions. This is in addition to the renewable energy tax incentives passed last October. In that effort, Congress extended solar and tax credits for another 8 years and eliminated some of the caps that were in place. This gives homeowners the assurance that the government will support their investments and offers the renewable energy industry the confidence to expand their businesses.
